  1. The greatest question mark of all, of course, is why on Earth would Assad forces have repeatedly deployed chemical weapons that he apparently no longer had? Obama specifically stated much earlier in 2013 that by doing so it alone would prompt a US military response in Syria and this led to their surrendering by his regime. Assad might have been many things, but I'm sure he wasn't THAT stupid. Latterly, the OPCW suspended Syria in 2022 where the somewhat mealy mouthed phrase 'reasonable grounds to believe' was often used to describe these alleged repeated incidents.
