  3. The US is a mafia state as matter of policy. It has, essentially, been running a global protection racket since the end of the Second World War and it went up a considerable notch when the USSR collapsed. As long as each countries' elites keep paying their pre-agreed tribute and toeing their line then the US will do its best to ensure nothing 'bad' happens to them. Only with the ascendency of China and the more recent freezing out of Russia since Ukraine has its near complete global dominance been seriously threatened.
