  1. Russia, I think, is going slow and steady in Ukraine because it understands the political ramifications at stake. This, remember, is a war that it never wanted and whilst it could never afford to lose it it doesn't wish to be seen to be too triumphalist in winning it either. THAT, to me, signals good intentions for the future. It just wants to be left alone politically without feeling externally (or internally) threatened, but maintain good trading relations with the RoW. To me, there seems absolutely nothing wrong with that position.
