  5. I disagree. It's quite obvious from the multiple exchanges I've had with westerners that their opinion IS heavily influenced by their attitudes towards 'white' Jews vs 'black' Palestinians. Of course, up to a point, most Israelis - heinous, blatantly racist TikTok videos aside - are influenced by their own immediate and perceived 'existential' longer term interests and 'race' in that context is essentially irrelevant, but in terms of informing Western optics 'race' plays a significant role.

  8. October 7 was a war crime. Understanding where it came from does not mean blanket condoning it. Up to 700 Israeli innocents died. Many from a music festival that shouldn't even have been there that day - another issue - with at least some knowingly at Israel's own hand. The remaining killed were identifiably Israeli security forces and therefore they were, in effect, casualties of war. The propaganda lies which followed, including 40 dead babies and systematic sexual crimes, were used in an attempt to justify this horrific ongoing genocide. There is NO serious comparison, however, that can be made between October 7 and what we've witnessed in Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank over the past year.

  10. I always hate it when people play the race card too easily, but western support for this genocide is patently being fed in part by racism and religious bigotry. From my exchanges, you can also add, bizarrely, 'holocaust guilt' into the already toxic mix.
