Ukraine was constitutionally neutral when Dubya pushed for its NATO membership in 2008. Think about that. Outrageous.

Western Europeans' decade's long ties with the US effectively allowed them to punch way above their weight safe in the knowledge that they could speak softly if forcefully to the world with the US's big stick always there to back them up. As a result dominant for decades myopic, expedient European Atlanticist establishments effectively neglected their basic housekeeping duties and have ultimately failed their own populations.

JDV's artful Munich speech, despite not being entirely without merit in its criticisms of Europe, was effectively a massive red herring cynically designed to deflect attention away from the US's central integral role in fomenting, funding and arming the Ukrainian proxy war for years. Notably, for a such a summit on European security, he didn't mention Ukraine once and there's a VERY obvious reason for that.

This also raises serious questions about the UK's 'independent' nuclear deterrent.

Bitterly ironic how US can spend years fomenting, arming and funding a proxy war that essentially succeeds in what it has always sought to prevent as a priority ie pushing its arch enemies China and Russia far closer together. To make things worse, it's now toadying up to the very country that was just a few months ago its sworn enemy by blaming its own supporters for its crimes, including even more ironically war torn Ukraine itself, for the war. Now THAT takes some special kind of front I can tell you.

Go back and listen to it again.

Long known and understood by anyone with a vaguely enquiring open mind.

The United States, granted arguably both in terms of whom in the US it benefits overall and whether its good for the nation overall, has long had a mighty sweet deal going with the RoW of its own making since Nixon. Sucking in the world's tangibles in exchange for bits of its neverending printed paper and debt. Choosing then to characterise this decades' long arrangement as the freeloading RoW sucking endlessly on the generous-but-now-running dry US teat takes some family jewels I'll give you that.

Don't forget Trump was sending lethal weaponry to Ukraine during his first presidency from 2017 and beyond to help fight separatists in the Russian speaking regions. This included the Javelin missiles that even Biden procrastinated over.

@johnlaudenslager706Ā Get your chronology, nay facts, right. Facts matter. Ukraine revoked its neutrality in December 2014. Russia invaded Crimea in order to protect a region with an 82% ethnic Russian majority directly as a result of the CIA sponsored coup in Maidan earlier in the same month of February 2014.

How so?

@PeriferijaPeriferijeĀ Inevitably.

Not entirely sure about that, but certainly the reasons for the US entering both world wars were certainly nowhere near as altruistic as the historical narrative seeks to portray.
