  1. Glad to hear that Danny's 'journey' began with the epiphany that he'd been suckered by Obama in 2011. I'd earlier been suckered by Blair. It was 'fool me once' time for a lot of us I imagine.

  7. ​ @mark_2 Yep. I like to call them the cuckoos in the nest. One of the reasons I also despair when people talk disparagingly about 'the Left' when it clearly is no such thing. Kamala Harris 'a socialist'??? FFS. The sleight of hand has been to shift the Overton Window if you like and capture those essentially on the Right who aren't entirely comfortable with the label. Hence we end up with 'two wings of the same bird of prey' and a toxic political consensus that's the Devil's own job to challenge.

  9. It bears pointing out also that just with all the empires before it the American empire doesn't bring huge benefits to its working classes only to its elites. The key though, as ever, is that they cannot succeed and continue to exist without the support of the largely ignorant masses based on the 'mushroom principle'. Hence, more than ever, the need for a complicit mass media machine and this growing need for it to shutdown or severely curtail dissenting alternatives on an essentially fabricated premise.

  12.  @zetristan4525  Much as I enjoy him, Mearsheimer is a self-acknowledged China hawk. His pet theory is Offensive Realism which amounts to eat or be eaten. The Truman Doctrine, the Domino Theory or the Wolfowitz Doctrine, it's basically US playing geopolitical Wac-a-Mole.
