  1. That's not nearly as impressive as I suspect it's meant to sound. $1m in 1980 would be worth $3.6m today at an annualised inflation rate of 3.12%. To boot average US house prices have risen over 1000% since 1980. Basically being a millionaire in the US in 2022 is nowhere near as rare, unusual or difficult as it was in 1980.
