  1. According to NASA measurements in 2022 the size of the hole in the ozone layer is approximately 24x what it was in 1979, up from around 16x in 2019. If the world's gradual abandonment of CFCs in the 1990s under the Montreal Protocol has had such a profound effect why these considerable fluctuations in these figures and why aren't they going down in any meaningful way?
