Largely thanks to the internet audiences are, broadly speaking, a lot more informed now than they used to be and a lot less inclined to be treated like mushrooms by the mainstream media. Nevertheless said media, particularly the BBC, still arrogantly believes that it can get away with 'telling' rather than more 'showing' its now fast dwindling audiences. Longer form interview programmes like the one presented by Sackur should in theory have a place in the media firmament given people's appetite for them online, but by accounts he just couldn't help himself interrupting and hectoring his guests.
