  3. More and more people are slowly coming round to what's happening here and what's been going on for years in places like Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan. I was ignorant myself until relatively recently and for that I'm truly ashamed.   4. These elites, if that is an appropriate word, aren't stupid. Pushing NATO previously unpopular membership at a time when by doing so anyone who vocally opposed it would likely be labelled a pro-Russian Putin apologist happy to see Ukraine fall under the authoritarian yoke was a no brainer for them.
