  4. Take a look back at the history of the region since the Communism collapsed at the beginning of the 1990s. Mearsheimer, whether you want to hear him or not, has been warning about this for well over ten years which is why he's so well placed to talk about it.

  6. $40bn US aid pledged to Ukraine, one of the most corrupt countries in the world, by far most of which is military and not humanitarian. Nobody knows where much of this equipment is going and nobody knows what price the US will ultimately exact for that 'aid' at some point in the future. US meddling in Afghanistan indirectly gave us Al Qaeda. US meddling Iraq indirectly gave us ISIS. Wonder what gift US meddling in Ukraine might bring?

  8. Like it or not, the Ukraine war has given and continues to give the US a chance to export much of its inflation to the rest of the globe. This inflation was building mid-2021 and exacerbated by covid policies, months before Russia invaded Ukraine. In the cold light of day, US monetary, economic, military and geopolitical interests are currently the biggest winners here so I'm not really surprised to hear that the US doesn't really want to see a swift end to this war.
