  1. This is a particularly good interview and it's a shame more people won't hear it. SV is basically a massive data mining centre and the real wealth creators are ultimately the buying and borrowing consumers not the ones who find ever more ingenious and invasive ways of getting us to do so even if we apparently willingly submit to them. Twas forever thus I guess. The big takeaway though is how this relatively very small clique of individuals are using that accruing power and knowledge to effectively subvert and influence our societies and democratic processes which underpin them. Power inevitably corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely as the old saying goes.

  2. One of the primary drivers of this bank run, as far as I've understood it, was multibillionaire and financial guru Peter Thiel tweeting that SVB was unsafe. He still had $50m on deposit with SVB when it went t!ts so that leads me to wonder is he as smart as some people think he is or was $50m a risk (turns out it wasn't) he was willing to take for a far bigger prize?
