  1. It's true that we get the politicians we deserve unfortunately. More than ever today. At the moment it seems we're crying out for weather vanes that mostly tilt to reflect our views and most seem incapable of giving the time of day to someone who has some principles or policies with which we might, on the face of them, disagree. Maybe it's modern politics, maybe it's the sheer cost of doing politics today where expediency rules but setting your stall out, barking and hoping people will eventually come agathering around you seems like a thing of the past now and we're all the poorer for it.
