If this is a metric that you regard as all important, in the last five years the Pound has risen against the Euro by 3.5%. Yes, since 2015 the GBP has fallen against the Euro, but if you check the figures you'll see that the bulk of its fall occurred at the Euro's inception around 2000 when the UK was still in the EU. Are you effectively saying that EU membership was bad for the UK then, particularly at the turn of the 21st Century?

@tombarry2523 I've acknowledged that. It's now up 3.5% in the last five years. Is that because of or in spite of Brexit would you posit? By the same token was its precipitous fall at the inception of the single currency whilst the UK was in the EU a good or a bad thing in your opinion or just 'meh'?

@tombarry2523 You're obviously evading the very clear questions I've asked you. Are you going to respond or are you just planning on beating your anti-Brexit drum with your la, la, la not listening rhetoric whilst flying in the face of verifiable facts? I'm long used to dealing with people like you, but I'm trying to be fair and reasonable here....

Last night of the proms is really just Glastonbury for the mainly metropolitan bourgeoisie so it doesn't surprise me to hear there were EU flags in abundance there. Basically, a load well-to-do, w@nkers who despise the working classes parading their virtue in front of the similarly minded elitist BBC. 'Anywheres' who mostly hate their country and who, truth be told, know eff all about the EU and what it's really about and only the various benefits it affords them and their kin.

'Populist rebellion' Brexit has much in common with the Trump presidency which both came to pass in the same year, 2016. Calling Trump a fascist and those who vote for him deplorable and racist doesn't actually require any evidence. Unlike his predecessors and the neocon puppet-cum-vegetable who followed him he's started no wars for example and during covid deferred to the disparate decisions of the leaderships of the individual states themselves. Literally everything bad that happens is down to Brexit (or climate change) and really requires zero evidence to back up that claim. The claim itself alone, apparently for these numbnuts, is deemed to be sufficient 'well, duh' evidence.

@unclem7816 Whom is that addressed to?

Lies, damned lies and statistics. Economics isn't a science and it's often just heavily politicised number wanging in order to try and propagate a narrative in the hope it will seed. Those earlier IMF figures were no different as evidenced by the unbridled glee with which Remainer-types pounced upon them at the time. 'Look, see...the numbers NEVER lie!!' Well, they obviously do. They're more than a little sheepish now about these revised figures, obviously. Still, that said, the UK is undoubtedly heading towards a recession, but that has sweet FA to do with it not being a member of the EU any longer.
