Can't believe sane thinking people are still advocating a one state solution. Bonkers. Utterly.

Ad hominems don't add anything to the discussion. So you're saying that Gaza since 2006 is effectively an entirely independent sovereign entity yes? Its people free to trade, free to fish their own waters, free to set their own foreign policy, its people free to come and go etc.

The uncertainty element is indeed fascinating. This was certainly one of Trump's flagged up selling points I remember. He was by turns aggressive, particularly in terms of global trade and yet emollient in terms of often attempting to pour oil on troubled waters ie N. Korea. By turns he could also be unpredictable as the Suleiman assassination proved. It was, arguably, this very unpredictability from the the leader of the most powerful country in the world that ironically helped to engender a degree of global peace. Much missed peace I might add.

It's not just the NRA that prevents gun control in the US. It's the constitution and now after all these years the sheer number of weapons, both legal and illegal. Most illegal. More guns than people and more guns in civilian hands than the military's. America now has an unsolvable gun problem sadly.

@asdfasdf3989 Mearsheimer has been saying this for years. He as good as predicted the Ukraine conflict over a decade ago. It's all there on YouTube if you can be bothered to look. Check out Nuland/Pyatt's 2014 contribution whilst you're at it.

'Survival ALWAYS trumps prosperity' Hungary's Orban was at great pains to point out that in terms of Ukraine this is what the West fails to understand about Russians and their allegiance to Putin. Mother Russia's survival is paramount to Russians whatever the economic cost not least because Ukraine is culturally extremely close and right on its doorstep. For most 'decadent' westerners Ukraine is the team they've just picked in a game in which they have absolutely no skin.

I believe the original intention was that this was to be an SMO, Special Military Operation by Russia not an invasion or war. The hope likely was that the Ukrainian leadership would roll over without a fight once tanks and troops hit the streets of Kiev. They likely would've done without the promise of western support.

Even if that were true and Putin was little better than a self-serving eternally corrupt mafioso Russia's PPP has increased markedly under his leadership.
