There is absolutely nothing wrong with moving towards cheaper, cleaner more sustainable energy generation as part of the broader national energy mix, but to dress this up with the alarmist, self serving, highly lucrative for some, dodgy ACC narrative is shameful. The best arguments I can think of for moving toward sustainables are the reduction in pollution and potential obvious environmental impacts of fossil fuel extraction and, paradoxically, preserving what are precious dwindling finite efficient energy resources for the future. The current approach is cynically impoverishing lots of people using guilt and, in all honesty, it wouldn't surprise me that as soon as more and more sustainable generation technologies come more seriously into play the price of that energy will steadily rise for the consumer anyway.

It's happening more and more but when did 'science' become 'the science' exactly? Science should be, by definition, indefinite. Once it becomes 'the' science and is no longer open to question or probity it ceases to be 'science' and becomes little better than a belief system.
