  1. Ukraine is another Western led proxy war. Putin's Russia will never hold the moral high ground in pretty much any circumstances I can imagine, but this perception of the West by the West, particularly the USA, as apparent upholders of all that is decent and true in the world has surely got to seen for what it truly is after this avoidable war?

  2. Just by way of context, Merkel didn't say, specifically, in that recent Die Zeit interview that she signed the Minsk agreements to buy time for Ukraine. She said that by signing them it effectively meant that it bought the country time to prepare for war ie in retrospect. That may seem like a subtle difference, and might well be disingenuous, but it helps to inform people's opinions hopefully nonetheless. The fact that they presumably went on to prepare for war with Russia with western support is another matter I guess.
