  2. Trump might seem like an oaf but he sees and has long seen the problem for the US thanks to its exorbitant privilege and permanent debtor nation (since 1975) status. The country and its people - apparently a nation of temporarily embarrassed millionaires - surprise surprise, have effectively been betrayed by their own trousering 'elites' peddling their plausible narratives. Trump's long belated 'solution' is highly questionable nevermind half-arsed and betrays a fundamental weakness of purpose. The long term prognosis, however, isn't.
