  2. Remember Trump is wont to say the meant to be quiet parts of established US foreign policy out loud. Thus given Trump's clear obsession with rare earth metals and now Greenland where there are apparently plenty it doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility that this played a large part in the US's years of obsessing about it along with its now largely discarded allies.
