  1. Typically, the US wants to have its cake and eat it. Not content with its corporations already creaming off their cut from the European economies and European governments dutifully buying US weaponry and allowing the US to permanently station their troops here against the alleged permanent Russian threat, they now want Europe to pony up even more for the pleasure. Even under Trump, despite the rhetoric, the US will never abandon Europe not least because they wouldn't want Russia, the continent's biggest most militarily powerful country by far, to play a far more significant role in it.
