  2. I think, really, when people talk about the death of free speech it's about preserving the vital right to offend within the bounds of the law. Universities no platforming of certain individuals and banning of the wearing of certain items falls into that category as does banning clapping as it could be construed as an aggressive act. The right to offend, again within the bounds of the law, is the cornerstone of free speech and the fact is that are people out there who are trying essentially to homogenise thought and make people think 'the right way' ie one way. At its best this leads to self-censorship and at its worst it leads to tyranny.
