  1. Ritter nails it again. Of course Israel has the right to exist, but not in its current form. The only reason it can is because of US backing in a Faustian quid pro quo. Not for nothing do all three main US presidential candidates and both US parties continually kowtow to the Israel lobby. The country's existence then, in its current form, is intended as much a useful thorny geopolitical construct in the region by Western interests as much anything else. A miserable status quo built upon the perpetual oppression of the Palestinians and the endlessly stoked fear, hatred and paranoia of everyday Israelis. Hopefully peace will come to the benefit of all to the region one day, but it will be achieved by far better men and women (on all sides) than are clearly in evidence today.
