  3. For a self-styled beacon and upholder of democracy the US has done more than its fair share of overthrowing them if they don't approve of what actual democracy delivers. Nor has it proved averse to supporting the 'right' dictators as and when it suits. Pinochet and Saddam Hussein immediately spring to mind. For me it's more the outright dishonesty of these obviously self-serving positions that bothers me and the false morality in which they have been and are continually presented. If they said, 'yeah, we're always f*cking these people over because they've got precious resources we need and for the money' then I'd have more respect for them and people would be free to make up their own minds if they were comfortable with it. Most, I would like to think, wouldn't.
