I can see the argument - desperate times call for desperate measures - but effectively handing over your monetary policy to a far bigger foreign power who will forever base its own monetary decisions purely on its own needs seems more than a little risky and potentially even more destabilizing both economically and politically for Argentina. Out of sync business cycles, surrendering the right of being LOLR, lasting democratic implications, surrendering of seigniorage rights to US. It's effectively Argentina not just outsourcing its central bank but also, in part, its governance in perpetuity. It's a huge gamble no?
