  1. The ultimate problem of course is what exactly the US might do militarily, under Trump or anyone else, if it looks like things are going south for it. The still nuclear, heavily miltitarised USSR 'politely' and relatively quietly imploded living to fight another day. Would the US elites, at least on current form, consider affording the wider world the same respect and decency?

  3. As stated, Japan doesn't have serious armed forces to speak of and there are 55,000 US servicemen stationed there in US bases. That's roughly the same size as Japan's own forces.
