  4. Kim's right, lots of people do seem to confuse shareholders and depositors. Shareholders are always, essentially, taking a speculative risk. Depositors are very obviously not. Shareholders will always speculate for profit whereas depositing your money is a fundamental question of trust. If that trust is broken or seen to be something that can't be relied upon in future more generally then the whole system breaks down.
