It's far easier to pin your troubles on an easily identifiable face than it is on a disparate amorphous anonymous blob with shared interests. This is why identity politics is such a gift to the aforementioned blob. A grouping that exists and thrives upon its divide and rule diversionary tactics. Identify the shared interests first off and join the dots as it will inevitably point you to the individuals in the blob. A good many of whom most of us have never heard of.

Information is wealth and power and, essentially, thanks to the 'free' internet we've all collectively acquiesced to surrendering that information for free. Yet another sorry example of we the turkeys voting for Christmas.

This phenomenon, broadly speaking, was picked up upon by the theorist David Goodhart during the UK Brexit vote. He called it 'The Somewheres vs The Anywheres' where the diverging interests of the two groups were reflected in that vote and the fundamental principle of sovereignty and sense of shared national interests that ultimately, if narrowly, informed its success. Not surprisingly, the phenomenon was reflected again in the 2016 election of Trump. Needless to say these oppositional forces were immediately rounded upon by 'the Anywheres' as being 'populist', dark, extremist, bigoted, small-minded etc
