  2. Gabbard is using false equivalency in her argument for justifying the illegal collective punishment of Gazans by Israelis. Simply because Hamas might wish to wipe Israel off the map it doesn't automatically mean that Israel can then justify its own actions against Gazan Palestinians as a whole. The IRA, for example, in Northern Ireland sought to use extreme violence as a means to expel the British from Northern Ireland, but that didn't give the British Army legally sound grounds for the mass killing NI Catholics or Irish Republicans in order to defend against that aim.
