De Gaulle, whom I'm no great fan of but no-one can deny that he wasn't a French patriot, basically said that politics was rarely ever a simple choice between right and wrong and more between two bad options and choosing the least worst. Europe has, or at least its grandstanding politicians have, stupidly chosen to make the worst possible choice of all here. Barring a commonsense miracle, it's going to be a long, hard winter for many of us and perhaps beyond. Dumb.

  3. Well said and very true unfortunately. The US has a huge amount of responsibility for this and Europe has been its stooge. I must confess I never knew until I looked into this a few months ago, preferring to go with the spoonfed simplistic, 'Putin's the next Hitler' narrative.
