I would argue that taxation doesn't actually pay for/fund anything, but it is politically useful/divisive to perpetuate that myth. Once you pay your taxes that money effectively disappears forever into the ether. What your taxation does do is allow your government to create an equal amount money without inflation. A subtle, but important difference to my mind.

There is some truth in that and it's summed up with the famous saying, 'ultimately we all get the politicians we deserve', but that makes the mighty big assumption that democracy and the democratic process is somehow consistently perfect, fairly representative and not susceptible to corruption. I, for one, don't subscribe to that idea.

Mrs Roselinz apparently. As pure coincidence or serendipity would have it all these people replying underneath either seem to know her or are desperately keen to speak to her so take a number and form an orderly queue if you wish to make your fortune.

Mrs Roselinz down below might disagree with you there. Still, be interesting to find out through the replies below how many people just happen to know Christine Norine.

Are we now all allowed to freely admit that this utter f*cking self-harming inflationary insanity started with covid?

@ramadantarantino4004 It definitely started under Trump's tenure and lots of people seem to have conveniently forgotten, for tribal reasons I suspect, that he instigated the MRNA vaccine programme through Operation Warpspeed.

@ramadantarantino4004 Operation Warpspeed effectively gave the green light to mRNA vaccines. Vaccines which weren't actually vaccines in the long held sense of the word and employed a technology that had never for decades been deemed either safe and/or effective. The apparent miracle of the 'cure for covid' was announced just a few days AFTER Trump's election loss I believe. Non-mRNA vaccines in the rest of the world had different issues, but nor were they vaccines either. Thus you'll need to elaborate your point for me...

@ramadantarantino4004 A bit clearer yes, but I think you're overestimating European progressivism. Are you American?
1
@ramadantarantino4004 European elites still get their unfair share, just less of it than their American counterparts you mean? Best summed up by the idea that in Europe 'the state' takes 40% of the wealth, in the UK it takes 50% and in the US it's 60%. Well, I would broadly agree with that, but Europe is far more precarious than you might believe and is far more dependent on 'the kindness of strangers' like the US for its stability, security and comfort. The US, the richest most powerful country in history, could certainly learn a thing or two from Europe on how it treats its citizens, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

@ramadantarantino4004 Lost me a wee bit there. Are European 'progressive' values something for America to aspire to aspire to or reject?
