  3. Modern developed economies have learnt to rely on boom and bust in order to sustain their economic models. It really is that simple. Easier said than done when things look to be rumbling along quite nicely and the spectre of FOMO is forever whispering in our ears. Just try and remember, particularly where equities are concerned, that your gain pretty amounts to someone else's loss and governments and financial institutions, like the bookies, tend to win either way.
