@scientificapproach6578 Electric car Batteries can't really be recycled - it's simply not economical to do so despite the claims - merely repurposed at the end of their useful lives for another less demanding purpose other than propelling a car. And seriously, the power grid is under constant strain as it is, particularly at peak times, and there are still relatively few electric vehicles out there and relatively few 'off gridders' relative to the still massive numbers of 'on gridders'. I suspect that somewhere like California has more than its fair share compared to most of the US though, but it's not illustrative of the US or indeed the rest of the world.

@Flyingknee500 Indeed. Production always seems to be studiously ignored, doesn't it? Electric cars, on current estimates, given their limited range, don't become 'green' until they've done around 80,000 miles. A good many won't even get that far I'm sure and, if they do, many will require a prohibitively expensive, economically unviable new battery to extend their lives.

@johntaylor2683 They are, but not economically.

@brednbudr2406 Are we talking about at scale?

@luigimanzoni2705 So we're talking about ev battery recycling - not repurposing - happening at scale yes? Any chance of a link for that please?
