@Mr.BednaR The way to look at it is if they drop significantly then it will likely be a positive sign more generally. Sure, you might lose out a wee bit if they drop lower than your fix, but they won't drop that much lower and things more generally will be more on an even keel so you're less like likely to feel the pain and your job prospects will be more secure. If they drop very slowly, stay high or even go higher then you'll not only notice the pain it'll be amidst a far more febrile political, economic and employment climate If, as some believe, this is all part of some dastardly globalist masterplan then most of us will f*cked anyway so whether you choose a two year or five year mortgage would likely be immaterial.

I take your point about the constant doom mongers, but by the same token if you're so confident that he's wrong and things are nowhere near as bad as he suggests in this instance what actions are you taking? Are you furiously shorting the market or buying up underpriced equities at apparent firesale prices for example?

Why do the more optimistic US commentators keep going on about the high level of US households savings if they're two thirds less than they were a year or so ago?

Lock in for the max you can.

My thoughts exactly.

Great time to short all this negativity, no?

@andrewpintex Oliver Smith seems to believe that all this is currently seriously overblown so I would argue no. Great opportunity for him and others who believe the same surely?
