  1. Christianity has given the world a lot of positive things, but it has also inflicted a lot of misery upon it. I'm all for accepting the on balance argument that it has been beneficial to mankind, but PH is always inclined to rose tint and cherry pick Christianity's role.

  3.  @CSUnger  That's a counterfactual. Fun, interesting, but impossible to prove. Human beings were creating incredible works of art and progressing long before Christianity or its ilk appeared on the scene. Don't get me wrong I'm not dismissing the undeniable contributions Christianity has made to the furtherance of mankind but nor am I prepared to give it a blanket pass either.

  4.  @CSUnger  Let's be honest, you posited the counterfactual question as to what the world would have been like had it not had Christianity and now you're positing that the 'West' might never have existed without it. This then assumes that the West might not have existed without Christianity and implies that it is, by and large, an overall benign force for good in the world. You are making assumptions and conflations which are, essentially, impossible to prove or disprove.
