  1. Russia has most likely invaded Ukraine precisely because it isn't in NATO and protected by its Charter 5, unlike the Baltic States. This conflict has been a long time in the making and the US, NATO and the EU have all played their parts in sowing its poisonous, destructive seeds. That in no way excuses what Putin is doing in Ukraine, but we should all be mindful not to oversimplify its causes into a purely 'Good Vs Evil' struggle.
