  1. Kids read this stuff and read it for what it is. They're mostly sweet, whimsical tales. Why does everything 'good' have to continue to be picked apart in this manner?

  2. Nail on head. "Culture is about appropriation. It's how we grow." The English language is the most successful language in the world precisely because it is so adaptable and far more adaptable than others. Other cultures 'appropriate' it and adapt it to their own needs.
