The US led West has seemingly, over the decades, actively sought to undermine essentially secular regimes like those in Iraq, Syria, Libya (slightly more complicated), Afghanistan and The Occupied Palestinian Territories by fueling and funding Islamic extremism for its own geopolitical ends. Even Israel today, although supposedly nominally a Jewish ethnostate, has long been secular until more recently as the Ziomist extremist elements gradually hold ever more sway. 'Never attribute to conspiracy what is actually due to c*ck up' they say, but either the US is dead set on confirming Einstein's definition of madness or it has something far more nefarious in mind.
