We have in the West shifted to the Right economically and to the supposed Left culturally. Needless to say that both these shifts have come at behest of corporate interests. The reason for the first is blindingly obvious as it has effectively allowed them to gradually assume the erstwhile omnipotence of the state but the second less so. Not only has this obsession with identity politics permitted our virtue signalling corporate masters to appear compassionate at very little real cost to themselves, it also permits them to divide and rule the unruly masses distracting them from the dangerous to them central issue at hand which was always class and wealth inequality.

In modern fiat economies all monies come courtesy of state. The claim that the state is the enduring major impediment to these alleged free markets is a sick joke. Unfortunately it's a sick joke that too many people still believe and it suits those who tell it to keep doing so. The biggest welfare scroungers today aren't those on food stamps but those who fine dine every day effectively subsidized by the state.
