  9. I think the biggest misconception whenever dinosaur are depicted in their natural environment is the scarcity of animal population. We live in an earth time after many great extinctions and eradication of wildlife by our hunting ancestors. But during dinosaur times the balance was pure in populations. That means there would have been litterally teeming wildlife everywhere, this is also supported by the existence of large carnivore who would not have been able to run fast and chase scarce prey like today, there must have been constant crowding of animal population everywhere which would be hard to imagine today. It would have been quite easy to just close a gigantic mouth with conic teeth on the ground to catch something. This is supported by the large calorific intake needed by huge animals. How else would you explain huge slow dinausor being able to chase their prey ? Even if you assume that they could only chase huge slow herbivores they would have been too slow to chase their offsprings but the problem with that model is that large adults would have been scarcer than smaller younger and faster individuals and killing one would provide too much food and then famine until the next one is killed. That means large dinausors would have to live on too much food followed by no food at all for weeks. This isn't compatible with the metabolism of large creatures. It seems it would pose digestive system difficulty. A crocodile could live like this but dinos were not reptiles, it's even believed T-rex had feathers so they were warm blooded and had a fast metabolic system that needs constant feeding which by deduction of the huge size and slowness means there must have been teeming wildlife like a beehive except out in the open.
