no so sure, a lioness did the same thing in the wild after loosing her own cubs and finding a gazelle fawn she adopted it for 3 weeks and defended against many other lionesses with her life. She never harmed it and took care of it. Eventually she lost it when a usual she went to hunt for herself (not the first time) and another predator took it.
