  13. We might be talking about the same place. In the South, got shut down a few times for failing food safety inspection. Then one day saw a big state legal order poster in red letter and chains and a lock on the entrance doors that the place was a safety hazard and nobody was allowed to enter. It was forced to shut down and that was a Chinese buffet restaurant. I realize it fits exactly the profile of tainted chinese buffet food. I was not a regular but ate there once in a while. They sure knew how to attract customers, it was always packed. Nothing looked abnormal or dirty but the building itself an old reconverted diner was shabby and had seen much better days. I bet a visit in the kitchen would have turned your blood cold, they probably didn't cook anything, only just warm it up, all the food imported from China. I never got sick from it, but it always felt like the meats and dishes were not fresh with those flavor additives that made it taste good in the mouth. It did feel like you were eating warm trash heated under the halogen lamps that was perfectly rendered and flavored and made to look good. It's hard to explain. There were always some dishes that would surprise your taste making want you to come back for it but my stomach did tell me that is wasn't healthy and it was fattening too. All the waitress were pure Chinese young girls probably illegal immigrants maybe 18 19 paid a dime and probably made to sleep in a communal basement. I am just making that up but wouldn't be surprised. They were actually hot, so much so that i once tried to pick one for a date (and i am not the type to pick girls in restaurants and never go to bars). While still in the restaurant and with the language barrier (they didn't talk almost no english) she understood quickly and turned red as a tomato and seemed to get turned on by my proposal. I am glad that nothing happened, since that was wild and risky. But i could feel her hesitation there as she returned to the table several times and then she decided better not. Weird experience in that place.

  23.  @vittalshenoy  There is denial, deception and dishonesty in the EV camp, if not corruption when officials are involved. It only takes common sense to understand that the overwhelmingly vast majority of electricity needed to recharge EV batteries comes from fossil fuel burning power plants. Charging a battery by burning fossil fuel in a power plant is always less efficient than directly burning gasoline in an ICE. Solar cells is not a viable solution. The Tobbaco industry in the 1960's produced tons of fraudulent papers to deny the health toxicity of tobbaco and these papers were written by true but bribed specialists. The same is going with Pesticides and the EV corporate lobby are doing just the same. Endless corruption. Your EV warranty only covers normal usage (not fun sport driving) and ends at 8-10 years, with mileage limits. That is bad. At ten years, when the EV battery needs replacement, likely the vehicle will be junked, no matter its condition. At the age at which the battery starts to fail, the car is considered totalled and that will be 8-10 years just after the warranty expires. An ICE vehicle is always repairable at a fraction of the cost of a new EV battery (but they won't still produce your battery in 8 years since batteries self discharge and cannot be stored long as new old stock :p ) We don’t hear the environmentalists talking about this. Do you know that 11.5% of 2017 EV batteries were officially recalled that is huge and proves it is a transitional technology. The Tesla mode S driving range drops by 25% before reaching 80,000 miles. There is no residual value in an EV vehicle near its warranty expiration while an ICE vehicle does not depreciate as horribly. Currently the world production of rare earth is done in China at a huge environment pollution cost with highly hazardous heavy metals spillage and chemicals and this pollutes the drinking waters bassins and streams. EV buyers should be forced to drink that water. If rare earth mining was done safely outside China its price would triple. The short lifespan of an EV is part of the pollution waste it produces. No matter on what angle you look we should pull the plug on EVs. ICE vehicles are cleaner when you include the whole balance sheet beyond driving the car itself.

  46.  @a0flj0  Perfectly summed up. It also goes beyond universities inside large corporations when these chinese graduates find employment in the US. Often the IP electronic repositories in large US companies are accessible to any engineer and over months and years they download it progressively to avoid detection covering entire products line up white papers. blueprints and design documents and send it to China. Now that is data that is easily engineered in China and probably account for most of the Chinese technology products that took two or three decade for the west to design and that Chinese miraculously caught up with in only half to one decade such as fighter jet planes, nuclear plants, electronic chips for many applications. The other Chinese approach is money. These CCP funded companies like huawei approach small companies with key IP knowledge in a field during an international conference and offers impossible to refuse promise of income to engineers in those companies. Some will defect and they are milked for 2-3 years until the Chinese determine there is nothing more to learn from them and then they are just trashed (fired) usually as a group. The third approach is to use western politicians corruption by offering to buy plug and play state of the art factories to be built in China by western industry leaders for huge amounts of money that western countries in Europe particularly really need. Politicians usually do not understand the implication of IP theft. This is what happened in Wuhan with the level 4 bioengineering research Lab built by France that leaked the corona virus after it was run by a chinese only team while carrying biowarfare research.
