@HaraDuran Leonard was a preview of rabbit boxing impersonated in mayweather junior. He was the antimony of a boxer's boxer or a man's man. He had those legs and fast leg reflexes that made escaping and ability to control the rhythm of a fight. And these things are not great boxing ability more like non combative boxer exiting strategies. This is why being a rather small built Leonard was able to box big monsters like Hagler and not get hurt. Some call it boxing but i don't. To me it's non combative boxing and hit and run. I don't admire that, it's only one level better than sucker punching. I am quite convinced that Leonard hated himself and knew he was not the type of boxer that were his heroes. In fact he admitted Duran was the type of fighter he always wanted to be. But Duran was a much superior boxer's boxer. I combative boxing Leonard could only be a student. So yes he robbed Haggler but i give it no respect because that's just rabbit boxing. I will never respect this line of boxers : Leonard, Mayweather junior, etc..

Hagler wasn't the best boxer p2p, but one of the greatest with a unique build and style. I like to call him an impregnable tower. His defense is terrific and his jab is powerful and never runs out of power. I agree that he probably had the best chin in the business, probably something to do with his strong neck strong back, and physics. His ability to switch to southpaw shows a versatile boxer and he is almost always the more intelligent boxer on the ring changing tactic effectively with results. Also reads the opponent stamina and motivation very well. I think he was a slugger with a power jab and a punishing tank like relentless slow moving forward attack. You can read the desperation of his opponents at around the 6-8th round when they know no matter what they do, he never stops landing painful jabs and then body shots. He break the opponent with pain that's why i see him as a power jab slugger but with good boxing ability and the toughest defense in the business. Very difficult to beat.

@smokeyjoe795 Your words are right on "Leonard weaseled the title from him it was a dark day for decency". I see it as a preview of future non combative rabbit boxers. I always said that a rule should be added to boxing to penalize non combative boxers because when training escaping and legs like Leonard or Mayweather it's possible to not box while being on the ring and that is wrong. It's like controlling the rhythm of the fight and training long range missiles is only one step better than sucker punching. I never thought Leonard's boxing deserved the place he had. The rule of boxing should penalize boxer who spend more than 60% of a round retreating or side stepping and not engaging in the fight and throwing a long distance punch every 15 sec does not count.

It sounds like Hagler won that fight with brio but in the long run this fight seem to have hurt him as he got hit badly a few times. He was not the same after this.

@HaraDuran No i consider him [Leonard] a fraud. It's exactly what mayweather followed decades later. These are non combative boxers. The only time he acted like a boxer was Duran First fight and you could see he is not a boxer. Avoiding confrontation by jogging around the ring is not boxing. Those sharp explosive long range missile shots are for show they can do no real damage. It's all about biasing the judges. Mayweather exact tactic, deny confrontation by rabbiting thus preventing both boxers from scoring any points then launch one of these feather long range but fast punch making contact but zero damage, it's looks dramatic and it's fake boxing getting points that way. I have no respect for Leonard and his brain child mayweather junior. Notice that these kind of boxer tend to become cockey and foul mouthed because their boxing is a fraud and they hate real boxing and hate that they cannot produce a real boxing show so they get salty and cockey with the commentators like Leonard was and foul mouthed like mayweather. The real tough boxer were upright men's man they needed no mouth trash you respected them like Hagler, Duran, or Pacquiao.

I like the idea of a night sky constellation after Hagler. It should be an impregnable fortress.

That Uganda tribe man did not throw a single jab the whole night. He is a fast hook man and uppercut + long range body shot. He had nothing much else in his arsenal. You could see it all relied on explosive power. After the 9th round power was all gone he was a moving target and Hagler could see that the Ugandan could not hurt him anymore and just finished him by taking his breath away and pumelling him. Good job Hagler.
