@torrace12 I came to the realization that life was never as safe as you thought it was until you go through one of these dangerous situations with scums millionaires or not. Then you realize life had never been safe, you just didn't know it wasn't.

Yes your avatar name is right, you're a mouse. The story was nothing more than a shady city, shady hotel employees playing a prank on foreigners. Everybody and their cousins in that town knew that foreigners were spending the night at the only hotel. Remember that they were in a very remote village where nobody had seen foreigners before. And his description of his reaction at the drunk singing stage and then at the hotel desk probably let the locals know they had scared foreigners on hands. That probably hurt their pride that foreigner were scared at their low life town, so naturally, they scared them more. Exactly what you see in a vintage Chinese movie. Chinese deception in its traditional form.

not really, but the hotel employees surely had a good laugh and still tell that story today about the foreigners who jumped from their room's windows and ran away into the night like scared rabbits.

@torrace12 somewhat correct but with incorrect meaning in your phrasing of it. You have to assume that people are good willing to be able to live in society but the civility is only superficial.

I am an avid watcher of 1960-1970 chinese kung fu movies. I watched hundreds if not thousands, and as crazy and bizarre (and too often trashy) as they are, you learn everything about chinese mentality from them. Everytime i hear news about china today i find it matches everything i see in these kung fu movies, the mentality has not changed a bit, it's only the scene and the occupations that changed, not the mentality. Even the unreal, fake fighting corresponds to a chinese mentality of keeping face where it's ok if something is not real, as long as it has face, as long as it's believable then no problem. Deception is a virtue not a vice, in chinese mentality. Vertical totatlitarian hierarchy, with a warlord at the center, doing evil, and cruelty, wanting total power. Again exactly what you see in chinese CCP you can see it in these vintage kung fu movies. These movies also show how chinese interact between themselves. Things that makes absolutely no sense in western logic. It's all documented in there. You start seeing the pattern after you've watched 50+. I'm at 1,000+

Hearing the story, and having thousands of chinese vintage kungfu movies psychology in my mind, I think they pulled your legs. Those two guys next door supposedly agreeing to a hit deal probably acted to intentionally scare you. As they knew, you can speak chinese and your wife even more so. Chinese like to do manipulate thinking by deception. It makes no sense that the front desk did not tell them you were in the hotel. It was just some locals low lives playing a prank on you. That's my guess and i could be wrong, but why would they want to murder foreigners they don't even know and again they had to know you were in the hotel, there is no other way.

I'll say every country has its quirks and what is presented in that video is Japanese disturbing subculture in a nutshell. I like none of it, yet i recognize how great Japan is for everything else the 99% rest of it. Far, far above everything in China or the way Chinese behave and their culture in every possible way. Let's face it and we all know that to be the case even the ccp knows it.

What i see in China, is overpopulation and the announced goal to take over the world by overpopulating with 3 kids. I see the need for the world to stop Chinese before they burnout all the world resources. Let's face it, human kind is still very much warring and brutal animals as societies and we have war coming in the future. That is just the truth without sugarcoating..

Giving birth in USA is total nonsense, the excessive measures and medications and cost are all ridiculous. Nature made women to procreate and they shouldn't need more than an experienced midwife and a clean room. That's how it used to be and should still be. Women must accept their role and their body and not ask doctors to make them forget about it with anesthesia. I agree with the Chinese blasé attitude except for the lack of privacy.
