I've been at Zongshang park in Beijing in 2015 in the morning maybe a tuesday and seen those scenes of parents searching a match for their children. I was with a Chinese born guide/friend and she explained the situation. I was intrigued (i was single myself and well passed the peak age of marriage) i wanted to play that game and ask my friend to translate the 1 page resumes. She was reluctant, in fact she wanted me to be hers but i had no infatuation for her i wanted to keep being friends. She translated some of them. The Chinese parents didn't seem to mind the presence of a foreigner or even pay attention to me probably because i was accompanied by a Chinese. After 10 minutes she said we better leave they don't want a foreigner here. I always followed her advice as you know Chinese are sensitive and political rules are strict in Beijing. She also wanted us to visit the Mao mausoleum because her father had been an ardent supporter of the revolution as a farmer and to make our stay in Beijing safer (i don't know why she thought so, but i was right to trust her on that). I was not interested but I complied. When we visited the big plaza she warned me about many gestures that we should not do. A little later a police force appeared and took a provincial woman away by force, she was begging for mercy and seemed a soft normal person. We didn't know why.
