And what did it ultimately get them? At the end of the day, a business has to business. There will be places for these stories and characters, but you can't shoehorn them into anything.

Fanatics don't care about profit, they care about activism. They're not committed to the business or the project, they're committed to the cause.

Professionalism meant something at some point, that lesson has been lost for a long time.

It's a shame because I would have even pre-ordered this game if mouths had just been kept shut. Now I'm gonna wait to see how the game is before deciding to endorse it because I'm concerned that I won't get what I was hoping Obsidian would deliver.

@JediLordRevan I somewhat disagree, people are a lot more in-tune with what's happening in the industry right now because after so many major gaming flops they got curious about what people were talking about. Here alone, over 70k people are now aware of this director showing his ass just because of the video. More people will talk about this. Geeks and Gamers, maybe a bit will make it on Nerdrotic, it'll get in front of a lot of people, and thousands of people is not a small number, especially for a brand new fantasy RPG.

My gawd, Ubisoft, just STOP already! You can't have done it this poorly if you had tried.

@slipperyfish7560 I don't think so. Honestly I'm burnt out and I'll be waiting to see if they turn things around with their next game, but I don't really have much interest in another Witcher title. They tried to take on the guys, but CDPR still isn't anything like a GTA or even a Fallout. We were promised things that never made it into the game, still to this day. The most they could do was offer us a big DLC that put in a bit of what should have been in the base game, which means to get anything close to the experience you wanted (not even what you wanted, just close) you have to not only get the base game but the DLC as well. A lot of interest was earned for the game from something completely outside of it, "Edge Runners", which only has a couple of references included in the actual video game, so it's not like you really get in because of the anime. I don't think that's really bringing it back to life, I think it's just... reducing some of the losses.

Little things like evidence isn't something they bother with

Here's the thing, he doesn't seem to want the leverage. He's just not playing the game like everyone else does and that's why the want him NOT in this role. Because he doesn't need the money, the retirement plan, the power and influence or the resources for anything. He has all those things on his own, he's independently wealthy and powerful. So he's here to just throw a wrench in the gears for everyone else.
6
@mcgabrielrock Yeah, we'll see how much of a "not a big deal" it is when someone makes a mod to just remove it from the game, I'm sure that won't piss anyone off. I'm sure there's no precedent whatsoever of that very thing happening for a video game and everyone would be just fine.

I'm so happy it's Chris pushing this, I hope Elon offers to pay any legal fees that do come up.

She can swear fluently in English XD

There's a big difference between any fan community and their reddit community.

Peaceful protests are not supposed to disrupt the lives or regular people.
2
No-one's thinking that far ahead.
2
@JediLordRevan I mean fair, at the end of the day it's about the product more than the creators, always has been. The issue of course being... with someone like this being okay on the dev team, does it seem like it will be any good? We already have a rocky boat with it as it is given its development. So this doesn't really 'help' it, but maybe it won't matter.
2
Video games are about escapism, not reminding the players about real life.
2
Better get FNV installed. Another year of modding one of the greats over what's new.
2
And we should support them at any chance we get for making something this good out of passion.
2
That comedic timing all around XD

@bnolsen More like the rodents don't pay the government.

The frickin' thumbnail weighs over 100lbs. And who is this tool asking the questions, who shortens "truth" down to "T"?

I think you might see more policies getting overwhelmingly voted in now that the tide has shifted. Regular people in California are sick of what's happened to their state and seem to have finally realized that their VOTES are what made it so bad in the first place, but their votes can now help change it for the better.

@mattmn2891 And imagine what CP'77 would have sold if it hadn't been complete disaster at launch and needing to be saved by both an anime and a massive DLC. first year, Witcher 3 sold 20 million copies, Cyberpunk sold 14 million. Witcher sold 40 million in 3 years and Cyberpunk managed to get up to 30 million in that amount of time. Elden Ring sold 13.5 Million its first year and 25 million have been sold today two years later, and that's not as mainstream as people think. A fantasy RPG with a reputation for being difficult doesn't have the same broad appeal of something like the Witcher or Cyberpunk. So you can say that 30 million copies somehow marks Cyberpunk as some massive success, but in reality they all know it should be a hell of a lot more units that were sold and they did a lot of work to try and get it to where it is now thanks to an external anime that had broad appeal and a DLC that finally put in a storyline worth following with choices that felt meaningful, something we were promised in the base game. Witcher 4 has got to be a KILLER game for CDPR to continue operating, they are more or less on investor probation everything they pulled.

I mean, it's more accurate to some of the original game art XD
1
I mean... knowing about what kind of content is clearly favored on Twitch, is anyone surprised? XD

I'm concerned because neither country has a history of great management

The topic of politics never came up during Thanksgiving. We were all too busy enjoying a great meal and visiting with family we don't see all the time. It was really nice, drama free and I'm very thankful for that. I also stayed away from Facebook, because as a Native American there's nothing more annoying than watching a bunch of people try to guilt trip others about the holiday. Shut up and go eat with your family.
1
Well... as much as it pains me... that's depressing. I mean, put the BS with the art director aside, I was still kinda hoping some spark of the old Obsidian would be there, but...
1
NO ONE is ignoring it XD

The man the beat Elden Ring with a sorcery build that had a fat-roll and two shields... yeah I believe this is real.

We aren't arguing the definition, dood, we're pointing out the common use of it lately and Asmon is on point. Just because it doesn't match what's in the dictionary doesn't disprove how it's being used, it's the same with a term like Nazi or any number of insulting terms that have clear meaning but are applied in a common manner in the modern time.
1
@LATAM_EQUINOX Jeez, it's like people didn't get the fckin' memo earlier in November.
1
@txflood2519 It's a shame because there are still WAY BACK veterans from like the original Elder Scrolls and Fallout that still have at least one good game left in them.
1
The first responders at Chernobyl were well aware of the risks they were going into, most if not all of them died from radiation exposure, but they prevented a second core meltdown in the process. These men are respected and honored because they gave their lives to do what needed to be done, and probably saved countless other lives as a result. THAT is the kind of people that we need in roles like this, not diversity hires. Not someone that will make an excuse for why they're not qualified or are unwilling to put themselves at risk to save others. There's any number of circumstantial reasons for why someone might be trapped or injured in a bad spot during a crisis like this. The selfishness on display here is wild!
1
Oh yeah, just like last time they're not gone, they didn't die off or anything, they just got quiet again. They'll reemerge when they think they have some favor stacked in their odds, however, I think we stand a chance of being more vigilant about it this time than ever before, because of how interconnected and exposed everything is now. Hollywood will never get back to its golden era of glam and cultural relevance, it's finished. So as long as it's pushed back in things like video games and movies, it'll never get the foothold it had again. People need to just not get too comfortable.
1
They never did it because they cared, they did it for self gains. These groups have allowed themselves to be used, they can't really cry foul when it was blatantly obvious.
1
Asmon is right, the problem is the people supposedly "championing" this are entirely self-serving and doing it for cheap gains, which isn't respectful or fairly representative. I also agree that a lot of the visual metaphors used in that short looked really good and would have loved to have seen it on its own somewhere, but I do think it can be a bit of a heavy, mature topic for something meant to be consumed by children.
1
And it's likely to become a lot more common, considering how "politically charged" the atmosphere is, especially after the election. Further, people in positions to try and calm things down won't do that because they want the term of the new president to represent a time of fear, tension and unrest so they can further make him out to be a bad leader.
1
@naverich4603 Well, eventually everyone has to admit what isn't helping the party. This defeat has been a massive eye-opener that things need to change. With this shift in the power dynamic, now people that were afraid of not going along with the whole thing can actually view THEIR SIDE with a critical eye and start actually fixing the problems. The Democrats as they are now, unless Trump really messes things up this term, don't stand a chance in elections moving forward either. This is an opportunity for those that were scared into silence to speak up and actually help their side.

All of his facilities to figure out?

Again, the real activists of the past would look at this and be so disappointed in how everything they worked for and in many cases died for has been utterly undone, largely by the very people they fought for. Martin Luther King Jr. would be tearing into this over just how absurd it is and what it's doing to his community, how easily they're getting cowed and how their behavior isn't making them the clear victims, but rather just an angry mob that people won't have any sympathy for.
1
Why can't we know about the drones? Are they trying to get a surprise drop on them? What, AFTER they gather as much intel as possible?
1
If we're going to have term limits for congress (which I endorse), I want to keep it limited to 8 years for a president.
1
Yeah, if you censored "HoneyPop" who the hell is gonna play it? This was a no brainer.
1
Just like Matt Hansen, watch this guy's twitter get real quiet when the rest of the team steps in.
1
This guy wouldn't be very pleased if he got stellar graphics at the cost of things like consistent fps, increased load times and things that would actually impact his game play. It's not just limitations on the development side, there's only so much graphical, video and processing power you can currently have and that's even less than what MOST people have. So what? They just have to eat the cost of over half their potential audience so a select few can have the prettiest version of the game?
1
You'd think it was a rights thing, where SONY wants to hold the entire IP, but SONY has majority shares in Kadokawa Corporation so you'd think they have plenty of rights to Bloodborne in order to make it happen. So this must not be a rights or monetary hangup.
1
What about all the young women and non-white women (which I feel uncomfortable singling out because they should just be counted in the same category) that DID vote for him? No-one talks about why they might.
1
I don't like that they seem to be specifying DEI when it'll just try to change the name and the terms so that it doesn't get targeted. Hopefully there's more in there that can catch it when it tries to pull that because it's already been in the process of rebranding.
1
People keeping talking about how we're headed for a dystopian nightmare... take a look at this! Look at the prices, look at the security measures, why do you think this is something we're heading towards, we're in it! That's why there's been such a shift. We're sick of governance that demands we be reliant on them, while also not doing anything so they can keep reminding us of the things we need to be reliant on.

She's not relevant, but she wants to be.
