  1. Someone once asked Bruce Lee if he could beat Mohamad Ali. He said, "no". He basically told them that Mohamad was way too big and had way too much reach and he couldn't have beaten him in a match. Bruce Lee wasn't a blowhard, he was realistic. He understood limitations and size advantages. He also understood philosophy and the need to remove pointless tradition from conventional martial arts in order to optimize them. His efforts may have influenced what eventually became mixed martial arts, which is a HUGE competitive sport today. Bruce Lee is a legend, but he was also mortal and he understood and respected that.

That moment he talked about the woman who lost her son to drug addiction and how time never heals it... my older brother died in Dec, heart complications that were a result of drug abuse (fentanyl) which left him dying in a hospital over the course of a few weeks where he could barely talk, couldn't make to the bathroom and I was one of the people there in the room with him when he passed. My mother was devastated, there's no comfort I can offer. That's the reality of this that people tend to ignore and why people are all-in on Trump's position to combat these things, with military arms if necessary.

As for sources, this very quote is included in several works about Bruce Lee, including a book by Dan Inosanto. So, I'm not sure what YOU looked up, but there you go.

  13. They're not US citizens, they don't get the same treatment as a US citizen. So when they speak out against the very country allowing them the permission to be here, they're going to get kicked out. You would let someone stay in your home, if they were constantly insulting and sympathizing with people that might do you harm, you'd tell them to leave. People can argue freedom of speech, but that isn't freedom of consequence for what you say, and in this case the consequence is losing your right to be here as a guest.

  14.  @voxdraconia4035  Bruce Lee apparently thought it didn't much matter when you have that much mass and reach to deal with. Ali wasn't soft, he could take a hit, he also didn't tire out and wasn't slow. He was a really good fighter and was also a heavy weight, meaning that he was quite large and strong. It's hard to compete with an all-rounder like that.

  17. It's a very scary thing to have to consider that Israel might cause an incident over here to implicate Iran in order to push us to get involved. These guys have pulled things like that before, so we have to be very careful about this situation and get it resolved as peacefully as possible.

  18. Software development is all about problem solving and loving to solve problems and see things work. I can understand how Tim feels. If anyone in your engineering department complains about having problems to solve, ask them why they're in their line of work, because that IS the work XD And while bandaid fixes get results, understanding the root cause of something is always a better way to solve something the correct way the first time.

  20.  @llamaczech  And some guys that design weapons/firearms never fight a war, but somehow manage to turn out good designs because they had good ideas. It doesn't matter if Lee never fought in a fight, he obviously knew how to fight and his philosophy was about trimming the fat, doing away with unnecessary tradition and teaching people how to actually fight. He was also willing to train people that weren't of his own ethnicity which was a HUGE deal and why he caught a lot of flak, but also why he garnered a lot of respect. He wasn't just a movie star, he was a cultural bridge and ushered in some new ideas.

  21.  @zebulon3044  I love how people make these comparisons when they clearly don't know anything about the history of the Holocaust or how it came to be. For one, we're dealing with a country that's suffered a horrendous loss and need a scapegoat. We don't need illegal immigrants to be a scapegoat because we're directing all of the blame squarely on the people responsible and that was the current administration. They're not on the way out and the new one we want is coming in, so no-one can shift the blame over to a bunch of people that don't deserve it. We don't blame the illegal immigrants for our illegal immigrant problem, they didn't let themselves in, they didn't make our borders less secure, that was everyone at the top that we decided to vote out. Then you have the whole matter of who's being targeted. Regimes like those in Nazi Germany and the USSR didn't have a problem with illegals because their borders were already secure, instead they were turning their military on the citizens. It started with ushering in new management, killing off or otherwise removing the previous managements and any political rivals, which hasn't happened here. We basically didn't renew the previous administrations contracts, we didn't have them mass executed. Now we're moving on to deportation of people that didn't come here legally or make any effort to obtain citizenship any time afterwards, which means they aren't citizens of this country. Then you have to factor in the reason it was easy to facilitate all of this was because propaganda and control of whatever media you were exposed to was all handled by the state, so they could tell you anything they wanted and you just swallowed it up because you had no better authority. We don't live in an age like that, we have information freely available from all sorts of sources, but we have had people that tried to control it and push only the things they wanted people to see and hear. It was the last guys we had in office and it's part of why we voted them out and replaced them. But yeah, keep comparing us to socialist/communist dictatorships.

  23. I had the same kind of breakdown when I first went to college. I've grown past this though, I've matured and developed and managed to get myself in a better position to steadily work on REALISTIC goals that help my life feel more fulfilling. I'm not surprised by this mindset, because it's natural for a lot of people at the stage in their lives, after high school, no longer children anymore and realizing only then that they're not really sure where they're going or how to get where they want to go. At the same time, I think it hits harder today for younger people because they're fed the entire time they're growing up that you should be overtly ambitious while constantly getting rewarded just for participating. So when real life hits after that and no-one could give a crap about your ambitions and won't validate you for doing your job beyond paying you your wages, it can be a bit of a brutal blow. I can say that, in my personal experience, you do get past this if you keep working at it.

  35.  @Zabrakjedi  That's his big appeal. He's not of regular people, he just isn't. He's too rich, powerful and influential, he's more like a celebrity at this point. However, he's also notably not a "politician", which is why they were so hellbent on not letting him into office. He's here to throw off their entire game. He's going to let out into the wild all their leverage, pump money back into circulation, fire off a bunch of dead weight and then put policies in place that prevent them from securing their positions indefinitely. All of this is good!

A size difference is a considerable disadvantage and anyone that's actually been in a fight definitely understands that. Bruce sure did.

  47. What works with this administration is that it's a collection of very proactive people. Seeing people that want to get work done is a major factor in why they're so popular, they look like they're actually doing their job. On the subject of going after corporate billionaires instead of illegal immigrants, you effective take care of both at the same time. A lot of those high-ups have managed to make so much money for themselves by utilizing cheap, available labor. By removing the illegals, you've forced them to hire withing US standards, which requires certain wages, certain benefits and their rights are protected by the labor board, which is a level of regulation they wouldn't normally have to deal with. Two birds, one stone. As far as the comment on the party that's increasing taxes, the Trump administration is advocating for the extension of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which is set to expire at the end of 2025. This includes maintaining reduced individual and corporate tax rates. Trump has proposed eliminating federal income taxes on tips and overtime pay, aiming to benefit workers in the service and hospitality industries. Trump is seeking to repeal the $10,000 cap on state and local tax deductions, which would primarily benefit residents in high-tax states. So... I don't know what the hell that person was talking about. Trump is doing a LOT of reduce the amount of taxes we're paying out XD
