@domfree7710 It's very easy to not become one of them, and nobody should worry about being placed in such situations. Behave like a person, follow the laws, and don't commit severe crimes. How hard is that?

@waspoppin4784 No, that's how every normal and law-abiding person with a honorable life thinks. Some people need to be removed by force from the country, in order for our political structures, rights and equality to be preserved, and for threats to be minimized/eliminated.
6
The rioters charged up and tried to attack the 17 y/o who walked away to defend himself. They continued trying to assault the guy, so what do you expect other than shooting back to remove the threats? The scenario was justified. Focus on illegal possession of a firearm if you're gonna try and criticize the person.

@donggry70 If they contribute to something dignified, such as increased national security and law & order, I'd be all for it.

If so, that's not a bad thing at all. It's not like innocent people are being sent there, lol. It's not Nazi Germany where an innocent group were rounded up. Drawing such comparisons is incredibly dishonest, historical revisionism and highly insensitive. Highlights ignorance as well. And biases.
2
Exactly, that's pretty clear when looking at the rioters on our streets, thinking that it's "right" to vandalize cities, plunder stores and attack everything they see like brutal primates seen during the stone age. They need to be controlled in enclosures. In closed-off environments. That's the only solution at this point.

Protesting aren't a crime, unless you're protesting under a pandemic, during protests, and if protests include using violence against civilians/cops, burning down buildings, looting/plundering stores, throwing bombs at firefighters/law enforcement, and behaving like a psychopathic animal. Big difference, please learn to respect that clear distinction.

How can you seriously compare the violent hooligan/serial convict Blake with the 17 y/o person who had his hands up, abided by all guidelines, cooperated with the police and stayed calm? Just a ridiculous comparison, and has nothing to do with race. Absolutely nothing. Do people buy into that nonsense?
2
Indeed. Kind of disappointing that Oliver is expressing partisan talking points by condemning the 17 y/o shooter, based on the evidence pointing towards the guy acting in self-defense. If anything, he should go after him for illegally possessing a firearm (if he's fine with "attacking children", which I presume usually is off-limits, unless the guy is a Trump supporter).

Lol, so hysterical. What's wrong in sending away people who destroy our nations? People who can't take responsibility, respect our cornerstones/laws? People who time and time again destroy for themselves, others, communities, and the country? But no, apparently the "EUGENICS" is the scary boogieman to look out for. Laughable.
1
Jason Tempel You better never call the police then, if you hold this deranged attitude of those trying to protect us from criminals. Or...are you already a criminal? Because criminals tends to use this dirty and sleazy rhetoric.
1
Sabotaging and violently attacking others/looting stores isn't a legal thing to do. These criminals that the Republicans are referring to are not innocent people. They deserve condemnation and jail sentences, not people defending their right to continuosly pollute this nation. Please re-evaluate.

Many have criticized the convention for inviting too many individuals from Trump's family. A little too much nepotism.
1
Yep, lots of misleading narratives in this episode. Many criminals being defended (the aggressive wife-beater Blake who had assaulted his ex-wife, trespassed, sentenced for disorderly conduct and assaulted officers, the rioters charging up against an innocent young man, and lots more). But I guess this is what happens when you're stuck in an ideological box with a certain type of audience to please.

A guy from Britain coming to America and supporting revolutionary extremist groups with unamerican motives. Claiming that everything is racist. That all illegal and horrific actions taken by some minorities is excusable and an example of discrimination/oppression in the system. This person isn't advocating for fair and sustainable change, they're supporting polarization and radical political groups.
1
@doublecrossedswine The former guy was a reprehensible criminal that resisted arrest, planned on grabbing a knife to hurt our officers, and behaved like a dangerous threat day in and day out. Is it honorable to defend a wife-beating psychopath? The entity deserved what was coming. The latter guy had at least decent intentions, protecting businesses/shop owners, maintaining order and cooperating with the civilized police. Don't put the two cases on an equal scale with a straight face if you're looking to be taken seriously.

Why are you giving screentime to the sister of a person who've been sentenced for assaulting his ex-wife (domestic violence), attacked the cops, sex crimes, trespassing, disorderly conduct and for all around acting like a psychotic maniac with reprehensible intents? The hooligan even tried to, once again, ignore the police's directives, mess with them, and grab a knife to attack them. And you're sympathizing with this maniac? HOW!?
1
Wait what? The sheriff is in favor of the majority of the people. The people who can behave respectfully in a compatible way, in line with the law. We can't allow gangs to roam around, contribute to single households and broken "families" by spreading their careless DNA without concern for what it leads to. Without any education. Without any intent to care for children. Not doing anything about these brats leads to a crime spiral that can't be stopped. Extra centralization to control many of these people with zero judgement or discipline is a necessity. Better family planning, zero tolerance against dangerous entities, and a way to steer people into the right direction.

Yep. Slandering a pretty much innocent 17 y/o isn't very ethical. He could've went after him for travelling from state to state, or for illegally retrieving and carrying an assault rifle. But nope, he went with the murder card by making up partisan lies. Oh well.
