Thank you for being a sane and inspiring role model to the rest of the world, Singapore. A sensible policy on severe wrongdoing shouldn't even be a matter of discussion. It's a matter of survival, respect and willingness to protect one's people.

@ProfessorElectronic No thanks. We don't want more decadence and crime. If that's what you prefer, stay in a country that enables such activities. The civilized world wants nothing to do with drugs and all the risks that it entails.

@mito88 If human rights and freedom of expression problems entails preserving great public health, encouraging law-abiding/good behavior, and if it leads to a stable country seen as one of the most secure countries in the world, I'm all for it. Singapore is doing fantastic and I hope my own country follows their way.

@ihs51 Target them all. Especially those at the top of the food chain.

@mito88 The cocaine and opiod rate has its lowest presence in the world in Singapore. Drug usage is practically inexistent. So it obviously works. As for alcohol, look at Saudi Arabia and others prohibitionist states. The war on drugs worked wonders there. Alcohol and drugs does barely exist and nobody in their right mind would ever think about coming in contact with it (and if they did, there'd be no supply!) Just because some see tough penalties as inhumane, doesn't invalidate its usage. It's more inhumane to let people suffer from violent actions, accidents and crime because you're unwilling to use strict penalties in the first place...

@mito88 Nobody cares, frankly. These moral platitudes means nothing and only stifles the ability for a country to reach prosperity and greatness, which benefits everybody.

@mito88 The death penalty can be effective, be seen as justice being served, and eliminates the recidivism rate entirely. What's inhumane is barbaric is to pay for dangerous killers and psychopaths to live in jail. Or worse, grant them so weak punishments to the point where they'll soon walk free and continue their atrocities.

@mito88 I don't think so. These sort of policies that we're referring to have been enshrined in dozens of countries for decades and centuries, and they for the most part works fine compared to the alternatives.

@kintondie Duterte's country isn't as successful as Singapore though. So it's harder to praise his drug policy in the same way. But he's certainly got my backing.
