  1. Probably because these people left when the conflict and military action initiated. I doubt they're aware of the recent developments and what actually happened since they presumably left Tigray ASAP.

  2. He'd defending Ethiopia against the insurgency and rebels in Tigray. Against the groups that don't obey the rule of law. Against those who've committed atrocities in the region and massacred residents.
