  1. Drilling a bunch of holes in the ground to pump out water as a drinking source seems to also increase the floods. Which is why the capital city of Jakarta is gradually sinking.

  2. It's a poor country with bad management, in an area prone to plenty of natural disasters and treacherous weather. The government deflecting the criticism/feedback and avoiding responsibility doesn't help.
